Applying ancient wisdom to modern medical treatments and increasing your fertility while supporting you on the emotionally trying journey towards parenthood.
Acupuncture can be effective at increasing your fertility regardless of whether you are trying to conceive naturally or are using ovulatory stimulants, intrauterine insemination (IUI), or in vitro fertilization (IVF). Acupuncture helps to increase the circulation to your ovaries and uterus which can help to thicken the uterine lining, promote more regular and predictable ovulation, and boost rates of conception each month. In Chinese Medical theory, the more regulated the menstrual cycle is, the higher your chances of pregnancy and carrying to term become. Sara often uses basal body temperature charting to analyze the hormonal shifts in the cycle. This gives weekly feedback and can help us to see where the dysregulation is occurring. Acupuncture and herbal treatment produce visible shifts in the chart and help to get your cycle regulated. If you’re having trouble with your fertility, you know that it can be an extremely stressful and emotional time. I am passionate about providing support throughout your journey in the form of acupuncture and herbs, referrals to other health care providers, or simply listening and helping you to understand what is going on in your body so that you can make informed decisions at every step. Acupuncture helps to reduce stress and balance the emotions. Keeping you relaxed and managing your stress throughout the process is an important step toward healing. Sara has clinical experience treating a variety of conditions which can make getting pregnant challenging, including:
- Hormonal Imbalance
- High FSH
- Low AMH
- Luteal Phase Defect
- Ovarian Cysts
- Painful Menses
- Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS)
- Unexplained Infertility
- Uterine Polyps
- Uterine Fibroids
Choosing treatments for your fertility are intimate and emotional decisions, and I want you to feel completely comfortable moving forward. I am happy to answer any questions you may have about your fertility and will gladly schedule a free 15 minute consultation at your request.
Acupuncture throughout pregnancy is a beautiful thing. It is a completely natural, safe, and effective way to help you manage the myriad of symptoms you may be feeling. Most mamas report feeling relaxed and rested after treatments and use the time for self care and bonding with the baby. We find that many babies can be quite active during treatments; they love acupuncture too! Acupuncture can benefit you throughout each trimester of your pregnancy and is commonly used to treat:
- Back pain
- Blood flow to uterus
- Ligament pain
- Pelvic pain
Around 36 weeks, we use acupuncture to help prepare the body for labor and birth whether you are planning for a natural or cesarean birth.
Acupuncture is helpful for turning a breech baby, softening and opening the cervix, releasing tension and anxiety, increasing uterine circulation, and helping the body to produce the necessary hormones to begin labor. Many people refer to this as labor induction.
Because we are only encouraging the body to do what it already so naturally does, we like to call this birth preparation acupuncture.
Having children is nothing short of life changing, earth shattering, and altogether overwhelming (what!?). Yes, that’s right. Allow yourself some time for YOU; to heal your body, nourish your spirit and help you find balance in this new life whether this is your first child or your fourth. Your self-care is a priority. Take some time to relax and re-balance so you’re at your best for your entire family. Acupuncture can be helpful in treating many postpartum symptoms:
- Back pain
- Cesarean incision healing
- Decreased milk supply
- Diastasis recti: separation of the abdominal muscles
- Hormone dysregulation
- Ligament strain
- Pelvic healing
- Postpartum depression
Acupuncture and herbs increase circulation to the abdominal and pelvic area to facilitate healing. Birth and 40 weeks of pregnancy (plus or minus a few) takes a major toll on the body. In Chinese medicine, women are considered to be deficient in qi and blood for nearly 2 years postpartum. For some women, it may take even longer to replenish your qi and blood. If you’re suffering from any of the symptoms listed above or have questions about whether postpartum acupuncture can help you, please don’t hesitate to contact me. I am happy to answer your questions!

We're well into the spring season and I'm seeing a lot of people in the clinic with some liver/gallbladder imbalances so I thought I'd take a minute to address it and what you can do on your own to help correct those imbalances. In Chinese Medicine, the liver and...read more
